From microscopic taxation and redistribution models to macroscopic income distributions

► A family of models describing the taxation and redistribution process is discussed. ► Each model is expressed by a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. ► We investigate the long-time evolution of the income distributions. ► Asymptotic stationary distributions are found. ► They exhibit typical features of empirical income distributions.
