Modeling the effects of social impact on epidemic spreading in complex networks

► We study the effects of social impact on epidemic spreading in four networks. ► The network has two types of nodes based on the social impact theory. ► We obtain the epidemic threshold conditions by mean-field analysis. ► The epidemic spreading is coupled with the opinion dynamics. ► Epidemic can be inhibited by increasing the fraction of self-protective nodes.
