Networked analysis of the Shanghai subway network, in China

► Shanghai subway network is robust against random attack but fragile for malicious attack. ► The highest betweenness node-based attacks cause the most damage to the network. ► The critical fraction of removed nodes of the networks is discussed. ► The functionality loss of nodes and connectivity of lines are proposed here for the first time.
