Increased expression of CRF and CRF-receptors in dorsal striatum, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex after the development of nicotine sensitization in rats

This study suggests that the CRF transmission, in addition to its role in increasing withdrawal-related anxiety, may be involved in the development of nicotine-habituated behaviours through reduced control of impulses and the aberrant memory plasticity characterising addiction.
