Synthesis, antibacterial and antifungal evaluation of novel 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives

► Novel 1,4-dihydropyridines were synthesized and characterized by spectral data. ► 3,5-Diacetyl-1,4-dihydro-2,4,6-trimethylpyridine (I) was used as starting material. ► Compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity and antifungal activity. ► Compounds IIIa and VIIa, b showed significant activity against Gram-positive strain.
