High efficiency CH3NH3PbI(3−x)Clx perovskite solar cells with poly(3-hexylthiophene) hole transport layer

We fabricate perovskite based solar cells using CH3NH3PbI3−xClx with different hole-transporting materials. The most used 2,2′,7,7′-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)9,9′-spirobifluorene (Spiro-OMeTAD) has been compared to the poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT). By tuning the energy level of P3HT and optimizing the device's fabrication, we reached 9.3% of power conversion efficiency, which is the highest reported efficiency for a solar cell using P3HT. This result shows that P3HT can be a suitable low cost hole transport material for efficient perovskite based solar cells.
