Molten salt method of preparation and cathodic studies on layered-cathode materials Li(Co0.7Ni0.3)O2 and Li(Ni0.7Co0.3)O2 for Li-ion batteries

► For the first time, we prepared layered Li(Co0.7Ni0.3)O2 and Li(Ni0.7Co0.3)O2 by molten salt method. ► Characterized by XRD, SEM, BET surface area techniques. ► The galvanostatic cycling studies of Li(Co0.7Ni0.3)O2 and Li(Ni0.7Co0.3)O2 showed capacity value of 125 and 165 mAh g−1 respectively, at 55th cycle and a current of 30 mA g−1.
