Electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol at tantalum oxide-modified Pt electrodes

▸ TaOx-modified Pt electrode was prepared by electrodeposition of Ta oxide on Pt substrate in room temperature ionic liquid. ▸ TaOx-modified Pt electrode shows an enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of methanol. ▸ The observed electrocatalysis originates from the metal-metal oxide d-d electronic interaction and the OH spillover.
