Molten silver as a direct carbon fuel cell anode

► Direct carbon oxidation is possible in molten Ag anode of solid oxide fuel cells. ► The molten Ag anode impedance is very high. ► The impedance of the electrode is limited by diffusion of oxygen in the Ag phase. ► Potential is governed by dissolved oxygen concentration in Ag at the electrolyte. ► In Ag-Sb alloy anode with charcoal, potential of Sb-Sb2O3 equilibrium is observed.
