Microbial fuel cell biofilm characterization with thermogravimetric analysis on bare and polyethyleneimine surface modified carbon foam anodes

► Evaluated a carbon foam anode modified with polyethyleneimine (PEI) in a microbial fuel cell (MFC). ► Applied thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) to estimate the amount of biofilm on MFC anodes. ► Biofilm formation on anodes with and without PEI modification was evaluated via SEM imaging.
