In this work, Al2O3 coated Mn3O4@C composite was prepared using normal solution deposition method. A uniformly ultrathin Al2O3 coating grown directly on a nanosized Mn3O4@C composite electrode prevents dissolution of manganese elements in electrolyte, decreases capacity loss and maintains structure stability. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction confirm the presence of Mn3O4, C and Al. The Mn3O4@C@Al2O3 electrode delivers an initial charging capacity of 589â¯mAâ¯hâ¯gâ1 at current rate of 100â¯mâ¯Aâ¯gâ1 and maintains high reversible charging capacity of 558â¯mAâ¯hâ¯gâ1 after 100â¯cycles. When current density increases to 1000â¯mAâ¯gâ1, it still shows an excellent rate performance of 337â¯mAâ¯hâ¯gâ1. Al2O3 coated Mn3O4@C composite are promoting battery performance such as cycling stability and high-rate performance.
