Triode operation of CO poisoned PEM fuel cells: Fixed and cyclic potential triode operation

► The performance of CO poisoned PEM fuel cells can be enhanced via triode operation. ► Application of fixed and cyclic potential during triode operation was investigated. ► The fuel cell time-averaged power output is increased by up to a factor of three. ► Cyclic triode operation is more advantageous than fixed triode operation.
