A contribution to the coordination chemistry of (E)-N,N′-bis(2-pyridyl)iminoisoindoline (2-pyimiso): Synthesis, characterization, and DFT calculations of trans-[PtCl2(dmso-κS)(2-pyimiso-κN)]

The 1:1 reaction of cis-[PtCl2(dmso)2] with (E)-N,N′-bis(2-pyridyl)iminoisoindoline (2-pyimiso) yielded [PtCl2(dmso-κS)(2-pyimiso-κN)] (1), in which 2-pyimiso coordinates to Pt(II) via the 2-pyridyl group attached to the imine nitrogen atom. Spectroscopic results showed that 1 was isolated as the trans-isomer. trans-1 is the most stable geometric isomer at the DFT M06/LACV3P∗∗ level of calculation.35
