Synthesis, structure and properties of two series of platinum(II) complexes containing methyleugenol or chelating methyleugenol and amine

Two series of platinum(II) complexes of the formula [PtCl2(Meug)(Amine)] (1-6, Meug: methyl-eugenol) and [PtCl(Meug-1H)(Amine)] (7-13, Meug-1H: deprotonated methyleugenol) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, NOESY and XRD spectra. [PtCl2(Meug)(Pyridine)] (4), [PtCl2(Meug)(Quinoline)] (5) and [PtCl(Meug-1H)(Quinoline)] (9) exhibit strong activities on human cancer cells KB with IC50 values of 3.7, 3.4 and 3.2 μg/mL, respectively.
