Mn(II) complexes of a tridentate benzimidazole ligand: Synthesis, structural characterisation and catalase mimetic studies

In this study, the N-butyl derivative of 2,2′-pyridine-2,6-diylbis(1H-benzimidazole) (bzimpy) and its Mn(II) complexes were prepared and characterised. Molecular structures of the complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The ability of the complexes to disproportionate H2O2 was tested by measuring the rate of oxygen evolution at room temperature.
