Protection of copper against corrosion in simulated urban rain by the combined action of benzotriazole, 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and stearic acid

- The action on copper of inhibitors and of their combinations was determined.
- Benzotriazole acts as an activator but as an inhibitor when combined with stearic acid.
- The combined inhibitors act synergistically and provide hydrophobicity.
- In the presence of combined inhibitors the weight loss of copper was smaller.
