Formation and oxidation resistance of Hf and Al modified silicide coating on Nb-Si based alloy

The bare alloy fails catastrophically after 15 cycles. For Si-Al coating specimen, spallation of the oxide scale occurs after cyclic oxidation for 150 h and mass loss is observed at 178 cycles. In contrast to this, no mass loss appears on Si-Al-Hf coating specimen after 200 cycles.
