Effects of crystallization on the corrosion resistance of Fe-based amorphous coatings

► The crystallization behavior of a Fe-based amorphous coating is investigated. ► Two kinds of morphologies of crystalline phases at different regions are found. ► Crystallization leads to the degradation of the corrosion resistance. ► Corrosion mainly occurs around the carbides for the crystallized coatings. ► A chromate treatment is effective for the recovery of the corrosion resistance.
