A comparative study of critical pitting temperature (CPT) of stainless steels by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic and potentiostatic techniques

► A new method for determining the CPT based on EIS was successfully introduced. ► DSS2205 and 20Cr-28Ni alloys were used to verify this new method. ► CPT values of EIS were close to that of potentiodynamic and potentiostatic results.
