Critical thickness of rust layer at inner and out surface cracking of concrete cover in reinforced concrete structures

► Rust does not fill the corrosion-induced cracks in concrete cover. ► A uniform millscale layer is found on the surface of the corroded steel bar. ► A two-stage model is proposed to predict corrosion at concrete cover cracking.
