Mixed alkali effect in physical and optical properties of Li2O-Na2O-WO3-B2O3 glasses

► We report, the mixed alkali effect in the xLi2O-(30 − x)Na2O-10WO3-60B2O3 glasses. ► Density, MDSC studies, optical band gap and Urbach energy (ΔE) have been evaluated. ► Optical band gap and ΔE show mixed alkali effect. ► The glass basicity and interaction parameter were observed to be less. ► These glasses are promising materials such as electrolyte in solid state batteries.
