Effect of modifiers field strength on optical, structural and mechanical properties of lanthanum borosilicate glasses

► The field strength effect of glass modifying cations has been studied on opto-mechanical properties. ► The results are discussed in light of NBOs, optical basicity, refractive index and polarisability. ► Weibull statistics, fracture toughness and cumulative probability of failure have also been analyzed.
