Understanding the combustion process for the synthesis of mechanically robust SnSe thermoelectrics

- Single phase SnSe was synthesized by SHS-SPS within 1 h.
- The thermodynamic and kinetic parameters were investigated.
- The presence of the pre-synthesized SnSe promotes multipoint nucleation and inhibits the grain growth, resulting in mechanically robust SnSe thermoelectrics.
