Influence of surface segregation on the elastic property of Pt-Ni alloy nanowires

► We calculate the Young's modulus of Pt-Ni alloy nanowires. ► Surface segregation process modifies the atom arrangements in nanowire surface. ► Surface-segregated Pt-Ni nanowires have enhanced Young's modulus. ► Surface segregation can modulate the elastic property of alloy nanowires.
