High temperature mechanical properties of an aluminum alloy containing Zn and Mg

► The paper studies the high temperature mechanical properties of as-cast Al-Zn-Mg. ► The alloy exhibits a class-A behavior, except in the high-strain rate regime. ► During hot deformation cavitation has been observed. ► Class A behavior is justified by the effect of excess Mg-atoms in solid solution. ► Cavities are located frequently close to particles and grow by plastic straining.
