A SEM study of antennal and maxillary sensilla in Zema gressitti Fennah (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Tropiduchidae)

► Antennae and the maxillary plates of Z. gressitti were studied under scanning electron microscope. ► Four distinct morphological types of sensilla, cuticular denticles and cuticular microtubercles are recorded. ► Evans' organ is described as a placoid sensillium sunk into a deap cutilar cavity below the antenna. ► Compared sensilla and Evans' organ discovered on Z. gressitti with other Auchenorrhyncha Cicadellidae and fulgoromorphan species.
