Nanorod structure of Polypyrrole-covered MoO3 for supercapacitors with excellent cycling stability

A hybrid polypyrrole-covered MoO3(PPy/MoO3) nanorod is designed and synthesized via hydrothermal and in situ chemical oxidative polymerization methods. It is found that this nanorod can remarkably enhance the electrochemical performances, including the higher specific capacitances (687 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1) and excellent cycling stability (83% capacitance retention after 3000 cycles), which attributed to high surface area, the electron conduction promoting effect of PPy nano conductive layer and the synergic effect between the PPy and MoO3 nanorod. Such a hybrid nanorod is a promising electrode material for application in supercapacitors.
