Cr13Ni5Si2 based composite coating was deposited by laser-induction hybrid cladding (LIHC), and the evolution of microstructures and mechanical properties of the coating were investigated. Results indicate that the process parameters have significant influences on microstructures and mechanical properties of the coating. With the increase of induction preheating temperature and laser specific energy, volume fraction of the Cr13Ni5Si2 in the composite coating shows a downward trend after a first increase. Accordingly, hardness (H) and elastic modulus (E) of the composite coatings exhibit a similar evolution trend. It was found that H and E of the composite coatings are proportional to volume fraction of the Cr13Ni5Si2 approximately. Furthermore, the room-temperature dry-sliding wear of the composite coatings was investigated. Compared with the hardened bearing steel ASTM 52100, all the composite coatings exhibited excellent wear resistance. Meanwhile, the wear resistance of the composite coatings is closely related to the ratio of H/E of it, namely the higher the magnitude of H/E, the better the wear resistance of the coating.
