Solid solution coating of (TiVCrZrHf)N with unusual structural evolution

► (TiVCrZrHf)N coatings were prepared by magnetron sputtering. ► Using appropriate process parameters, a thick amorphous layer was formed. ► Preferred orientation evolved from (200) to (220) as coating thickness increased.
