A study on friction coefficient and wear coefficient of coated systems submitted to micro-scale abrasion tests

► A ball-cratering equipment able to measure tangential force was constructed. ► TiN and TiC hardness did not have a significant influence on the friction coefficient. ► The wear coefficient decreased with the increase of the coating hardness. ► The occurrence of micro-rolling abrasion was observed.
