Wear and adhesion resistance of duplex coatings deposited on Ti6Al4V alloy using MAO and CFUBMS

► A duplex surface treatment was applied on Ti6Al4V alloys. ► DLC and MAO (TiO2) coatings were deposited using CFUBMS and MAO coating techniques. ► The mechanical incompatibility was minimised by MAO interlayer. ► MAO/DLC duplex coating modified the tribological and adhesion properties of Ti6Al4V.
