On the in-situ aluminothermic reduction of manganese oxides in continuous galvanizing baths

► The aluminothermic reduction of MnO in the galvanizing bath was investigated. ► It was determined that the proposed reaction occurs. ► The Al2O3 and dissolved Mn reaction products were directly observed. ► The reaction obeys a linear reaction kinetic for all reaction times investigated.
