Effect of the bias voltage on the structure of nc-CrC/a-C:H coatings with high carbon content

► nc-CrC/a-C:H nanocomposites deposited by filtered cathodic arc. ► Ion bombardment intensity as parameter to control the nanostructure. ► Higher bias induces an increase in CC and CCr phases and a decrease in H content. ► Nanocrystals identified as Cr3C2, a-C:H matrix presents some onion-like structures.
