Atomic emission spectroelectrochemistry study of the degradation mechanism of model high-temperature paint containing sacrificial aluminum particles

► In-situ monitoring of the degradation of model high temperature paint in 3% NaCl. ► Elementary degradation phenomena are measured independently. ► Detachment and dissolution of metallic particles observed under cathodic polarization. ► Si dissolution from the binder was observed under cathodic polarization. ► Al dissolution rate decreases when Si dissolution rate is at a maximum.
