Improvement in adhesion of diamond film on Cu substrate with an inlay structured interlayer

► Diamond films were deposited on Cr-diamond composite interlayer on Cu substrate. ► Concentric cracks on the periphery of imprint were found on indentation test. ► The concentric cracks results from high interfacial strength.
