Multifunctional silk fabrics by means of the plasma induced graft polymerization (PIGP) process

► A multifunctional coating on silk fabrics was realized by means of PIGP process. ► A wash-resistant flame retardant finish was obtained with phosphoramidate monomers. ► High LOI values superior to 30 were reached with less than 11% of grafted polymer. ► Impermeability was acquired with a SF6 plasma treatment on the flame proofed fabrics.
