We present a low temperature hydrothermal route for synthesis of Barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanostructures for their utility in H2S gas sensing. We established the reaction parameters to obtain sub-100 nm BaTiO3 nanostructures (spherical, hexagonal and rods) and subjected them form a thick film by screen-printing technique. These calcined thick films were exposed to various gases at different working temperature for sensing studies. The as-fabricated thick film of BaTiO3 selectively sensed H2S gas at a working temperature range from 200 to 300 °C. The role of Desulphurization band-gap, size and shape of BaTiO3 nanostructures in H2S gas sensing mechanism is discussed in detail.
