The effect of CO2 on the mechanical properties of the Captain Sandstone: Geological storage of CO2 at the Goldeneye field (UK)

► CO2-brine injection resulted in calcite dissolution in carbonate-cemented sandstone. ► No significant changes of the rock mechanical properties were observed. ► CO2/brine/rock interaction did not enhance potential rock failure in the short term.
