Economic analysis under uncertainty of coal fired capture-ready power plants

► The retrofitting of capture ready power plants was assessed. ► Through learning curves, the cost reduction of carbon capture was modeled. ► Due to uncertainties on CCS development, a probabilistic analysis was applied. ► Results have shown that decision tends to avoid investment in additional CR modifications. ► Policies might favor a less likely scenario, where ready plants become feasible.
