Performance of CLOU process in the combustion of different types of coal with CO2 capture

► Successful CLOU operation was achieved with different coals ranging from lignite to anthracite. ► Unburnt compounds were not found in the fuel reactor in any case. ► Carbon capture efficiency followed the reactivity of coal: lignite > bituminous coal > anthracite. ► The maximum capture efficiency was 99.3% at 950 °C with lignite. ► Measurements must be taken for low reactive coals to reach high carbon capture with low amount of solids.
