Post-combustion CO2 capture from a natural gas combined cycle by CaO/CaCO3 looping

► Post-combustion CO2 capture from natural gas combined cycle (NGCC) by CaO/CaCO3 looping. ► Energy benchmarking against NGCC power plant without capture and with capture by MEA. ► None of investigated CaO/CaCO3 cycles led to higher net efficiency than MEA-based reference case. ► Carbonator temperature must be reduced compared to coal-fired plants due to lower CO2 partial pressure. ► Internal heat recuperation improves efficiency and increases purity of captured CO2.
