Effects of geologic reservoir uncertainty on CO2 transport and storage infrastructure

► We analyze the effect of geologic reservoir uncertainty on CCS infrastructure. ► Uncertainty impacts sink cost and capacity estimates up to an order of magnitude. ► Uncertainty propagates through the CCS system, influencing where/how CO2 to capture. ► We show that uncertainty makes transport and storage costs deviate by over 100%. ► Geologic uncertainty is a driving factor for how major industry will manage CO2.
