Sustainability inter-linkages in reporting vindicated: a study of European companies

► 53 European companies' sustainability reports were analysed. ► Each report was analysed on the inter-linking indicators' coverage and performance. ► The coverage and performance of the indicators is fairly congruent, but the latter is usually lower. ► Although not demanded by the GRI guidelines, companies are reporting on inter-linked issues. ► Sustainability reporting guidelines must be updated to be more holistic in theory and praxis.
