Characterization of 'natural' and 'high-quality' materials to improve perception of bio-plastics

► The attribution of the meanings 'natural' and 'high-quality' to materials is explored in reflection to bio-plastics. ► There appear more contradictory aspects than congruent aspects when evoking these two meanings. ► Imposition of new aesthetic values for bio-plastics is proposed.
