Overexpression of Intrinsic Hypoxia Markers HIF1α and CA-IX Predict for Local Recurrence in Stage T1-T2 Glottic Laryngeal Carcinoma Treated With Radiotherapy

The results of our study have shown that early-stage glottic laryngeal carcinomas with low HIF1α and CA-IX expression are highly curable with RT. For this group, RT is a good treatment option. For tumors with HIF1α or CA-IX overexpression, hypoxic modification before RT or primary surgical treatment should be considered.
