► Polysaccharide PCPw from Pulsatilla chinensis have been first fractionated. ► PCPw was composed of rhamnose, arabinose, xylose, galactose and mannose. ► PCPw significantly inhibit the tumor growth in mice. ► PCPw significantly improve both cellular and humoral immune response. ► PCPw might be explored as a potential natural antitumor drug.
