Adsorption of Hg2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions from aqueous solution using formaldehyde cross-linked modified chitosan-thioglyceraldehyde Schiff's base

► Chitosan was chemically modified through the reaction with 2-thioglyceraldehyde. ► The modified chitosan-thioglyceraldehyde cross-linked with formaldehyde in presence of magnetite to produce modified magnetic resin. ► The resulted resin characterized by various instrumental methods. ► The resin was applied to remove Hg2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+ from aqueous solutions.
