The effect of amino acid excipients on morphology and solid-state properties of multi-component spray-dried formulations for pulmonary delivery of biomacromolecules

The current study reports a formulation strategy to produce multi-component spray-dried formulations containing an amorphous matrix for glassy state stabilisation of biomacromolecules by incorporating mannitol, trehalose, glycine and alanine using leucine as an 'encapsulating agent' to assist particle formation.
