Comparison of the effects of cationic and nonionic surfactants on the properties of Y2O3:Eu3+ phosphors synthesized by a co-precipitation-molten salt method. The effects of surfactants on the structure and luminescence were investigated by X-ray diffraction and fluorescence spectrophotometer. X-ray diffraction analysis showed the positions of the characteristic peaks. Fluorescence spectrophotometer analysis yielded photoluminescence (PL)/photoluminescence excitation (PLE) behavior and the asymmetry factor of luminescence. However, the results showed that the relative peaks intensity of samples was apparently different. The reason can contributed to the intensities of the characteristic diffraction peaks [(2 2 2) and (4 0 0)] become stronger, indicating higher crystallinity of Y2O3:Eu3+, suggesting that the differing luminescence was largely crystallinity dependent.
