Optical characterization of Chitosan for application as an engineered biomaterial
چکیده انگلیسی

The polarization sensitive optical imaging technique has been used to study the optical properties of Chitosan as a biomaterial suitable for orthopedic implants. The Mueller matrices of Chitosan are obtained in the wavelength range from 400 to 800 nm using polarized light, and then decomposed for the forward and reverse formulations. The decomposed images of the data are obtained for the analysis of the optical properties of the material such as retardence, depolarization, diattenuation. The optical properties prove Chitosan to be highly compatible, strong and dense scattering medium suitable for bioactive coating in favor of orthopedic implants.
